EMS 3O1 Blog Entry # 5

T.G.I.F!

Today, I would like you to outline and analyze the different perspectives in the article "Gossip Sells the Goods" from Macleans magazine (Aug 4, 08 issue). Use the questions (a - e) as a starting point for your post- don't answer them as typical question/response work!

a) What are some of the advantages for retailers who have celebrities who shop in their stores regularly and/or celebrity endorsements?
b) What are some of the issues that some people have regarding the use of celebrities being used (paid or otherwise) to sell products or promote certain retailers?
c) How do celebrity endoresements help boost retail sales?
d) How have celebrities become a part of the "business plan and business model", according to the article?
e) What do you make of all this? Does celebrity gossip have any impact on your habits as a consumer (consciously or subconsciously)?

Please respond in full sentences and proper paragraph format using SPECIFIC examples from the article.

Happy Blogging!
