Over the course of our study of "Catcher in the Rye" we have dicussed and thought a lot about what it means to be a good person, to be true to yourself, and also what it means to be a 'phoby'.
With the film "Igby Goes Down", we threw two other ideas into the mix: ethics and morals. Neither Holden or Igby live their lives according to the 'ethics' of the society in which they live. Both characters have their own individuals morals which influence the way they live their lives.
Examine both characters' individual, family, work and social morals (according to the worksheet you completed in class) and decide: which character is the most GENUINE, the most true to himself, and who really does live his life according to his own morals? Be sure to use specific examples from both the novel and the film to support your answer.
*Your challenge with this entry is to also use examples which illustrate how the other character (the one you feel isn't genuine) in order to provide contrast and further reinforce your stance on the character you chose as being the most genuine/true to himself, etc.*
